The University of Alberta’s International Undergraduate Student Bursary, valued at $5,000, helps undergraduate students whose family’s financial situation may make it difficult to finance their education with the costs of tuition and books. Candidates must be citizens of countries other than Canada, with the exception of American Indians living in the United States. Students must also be enrolled in an eligible program (see below) at the University of Alberta and be planning to study full-time in the 2017/2018 academic year.

The University of Alberta International Undergraduate Student Bursary is offered by The University of Alberta. It is available annually and up to 5 bursaries are awarded each year, with awards ranging from $1,000-$2,500. How to apply
The bursary application process is easy, though it does take time. You’ll need to submit: • A 1000-word essay on why you should be chosen as an award recipient. • Official transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended, along with test scores (if applicable). • Proof of enrollment at The University of Alberta or another recognized higher education institution in Canada or abroad. Keep in mind that applications must be submitted no later than April 20th, 2017.

Other financing options
Before applying, consider other financing options. If you’re attending university in Canada, you may qualify for Canada Student Loans and Grants through Service Canada or a provincial/territorial agency. You can also apply for financial assistance from individual faculties, departments and colleges at post-secondary institutions. Many schools also offer their own bursaries, scholarships and prizes. Make sure you talk to faculty members and other students about available opportunities so that you can plan ahead and ensure that money isn’t an obstacle when it comes time to start school.
